Yalin graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science (2nd Upper Honours in Chemistry). She has 12 years of engineering experience in the electronics industry, particularly in the area of systematic experimental design and problem solving. She also has 3 years of enquiry-based teaching experience at a leading tertiary institution and 15 years of ‘O’ level Chemistry tutoring experience.

At the end of each class, Yalin equips her students with a clear understanding of fundamental Chemistry concepts (content) and a highly systematic approach to analyze as well as answer exam questions (skills) such that they are able to handle higher-order thinking questions with great ease.

She absolutely enjoys designing new science enrichment programs and data-based questions to stretch students beyond their comfort zones.

Students in her enrichment programs and tuition classes are often amazed by their own abilities to achieve above and beyond what they can imagine.

PAULINE

Pauline obtained her PhD from the National University of Singapore in 1999. She has 4 years of engineering experience in electroplating, 6 years of enquiry-based teaching experience at a leading tertiary institution and has been coaching students on ‘O’ level Physics and ‘A’ level Chemistry since 2007.

Although Pauline holds a PhD, she believes in speaking at a level that secondary school students can understand. This is to achieve the desired effect of inspiring young minds to become interested in Science. She also teaches by linking scientific theories to everyday examples so that students gain a deeper understanding of the concepts & retain their learnings longer.

Besides helping students digest complex technical content, Pauline is very good at identifying each student’s learning style and strategizing a variety of studying methods to match the style. This leads to higher studying efficiency and effectiveness which ultimately translates to maximum time savings as well as grade improvements.

Phoebe has an Honors Degree in Applied Mathematics at the National University of Singapore. With 4 years of experience in teaching ‘O’ level Elementary & Additional Mathematics, Phoebe is able to identify many of the common mistakes and misconceptions made by students. She is thus well versed in explaining and simplifying new mathematical concepts to students by drawing links to existing concepts.

Phoebe prepares students well for tests and exams by emphasizing the need for excellent presentation skills and by adopting a step-by- step problem solving technique to equip each student with the critical thinking skills to comprehend, analyze and solve each and every mathematical question.

Phoebe is always ready to go the extra mile for her students. She believes in building a relationship with her students. Watching her students improve is her motivation and encouragement that fuels her passion for teaching.

Shi Kiang obtained a Diploma in Molecular Biotechnology in 2014 and an Honours degree in
Biomedical Science from Northumbria University in 2018. Since 2011, he has been teaching ‘O’ levels students in Chemistry and Physics.

In every lesson, Shi Kiang ensures his students obtain a steady grip on the fundamentals by introducing new methods and diagrams. Hence, students can apply the knowledge to questions of various difficulties with ease.

Besides fundamentals, he engages different teaching styles to fit each student’s study habit. He believes that students learn best if when the lessons are personalized and when they are given the chance to voice their thoughts freely.

Over the years, seeing his students improving further deepens his passion in teaching and motivates him to provide new styles and methods to ensure students get the best education treatment.
